I was not able to have the labor I wanted in any of my births. This stemmed from the famous cascade of events that started with my first child, born C-section. If only I knew then what I know now things would have been so different. I was young and questioned nothing believing that everything was being done for the benefit and safety of both my baby and I...
So sometimes I envision the birth I would have really wanted, in all ways...they're never the same, none the less, so beautiful and amazingly earthy! Sometimes I have only women around me catering to my every whim brushing the hair from my face and cooling me down with an herbal infusion, these women feel like sisters and mothers to me and I am stronger with their support I deliver naturally in the sanctuary of my own home. My baby never sees the inside of a plastic cradle- only my arms wrapped around her.
Sometimes I hear drums and chant positive affirmations...sometimes my husband is there and chants these same affirmations with me in my ear while he is behind me as I squat to deliver my baby.
Other times I visualize it's like I am observing a holy moment with peace, stillness and focus.
All times it is in a home. After I birth my baby, I nurse and we both lay at peace. That night we spend together in my bed...
Crunchy, I know- Didn't ever happen like that- I know... Perhaps it was all apart of a divine plan, so I can except that.

Birthing Baby: My Choice is different... And that's okay...
So as I was doing my morning reading I came upon this blog about about being stuck in those tangled ends of delivery methods. I have to say that I loved the candid feelings she describes about being confused on which path is right and wrong, good or bad, I too have been there myself!
Whole Birthing is all about doing what's best for you and your child, and finding your own balance, whatever that means to you, while providing continuous support for you and your baby.

Birth Without Fear - Empowering Women to Make Informed Choices About Pregnancy and Birth:
She writes:
A woman is beginning her motherhood and it should begin with love all around her. If a woman has a birth she sees as traumatic, no matter what kind of birth it is, give her support. If a woman chooses a different path that you would, remember it is HER journey. When you want to put a woman down, remember that if you want her to come to you with questions, be the person she wants to receive answers from.

She previously states...
There is a lack of knowledge, understanding and support on both sides. It has taken time, and a lot of criticism on all sides, but I think I am here. I think we are here. I think there is finally a true Birth Without Fear COMMUNITY coming together. A place where we all want to inform women that yes, they have choices in their births! A place that women can get support in the informed choices they do make, even if different from what we would do. A place ALL women can share their stories.

What are your thoughts?
